Jake Knight: Bringing the Personal Touch
Jake’s no stranger to sales, and at SBT he’s all about building real connections. When asked to describe his role, he said, “Working as a Sales Specialist, my role is to showcase the fantastic offerings we have here at SBT and how we can help bolster each student's, or company's, defensive armoury.” It’s not just about the pitch, it’s about showing how SBT fits a client’s needs.
So how does he make it a great experience for prospective clients? “Personalize each interaction, analyze any pain points, then meet that pain point head on with an aligned SBT course,” Jake explains. It’s simple: listen, pinpoint, solve. His typical day reflects that focus: “Reaching out to potential clients who have shown an interest in our products, hosting live demonstrations of our platforms (eLearning and BTLO) to varying audiences from Analyst to C Level, producing quotes and invoices tailored to our clients' requirements.”
What pulled Jake to SBT? “The variety of fantastic courses and willingness to continuously evolve based on the students’ needs,” he says. That flexibility keeps him hooked. And the best part of the job? “Cliché, but the people that make this organization. Nothing is ever too much trouble; the work ethic is incredible!” Jake feeds off the team’s energy, and it shows.
Outside of work, he’s got plenty keeping him busy: “I enjoy watching most sports – especially my football team QPR, who receive a big chunk of my pay throughout the season when I'm attending matches around the country. My partner Aimee and I are also expecting our first child anytime soon, so I’m sure my previous statement won’t be true for much longer!” Between football and a baby on the way, Jake’s got a full, happy plate.
Nathaniel Hutchinson: Building Relationships That Stick
Nathaniel brings his own style to the Sales Specialist gig. He sums it up crisply: “As a sales specialist, my role is to showcase our products to companies that have shown interest and work with them towards their goal.” It’s about guiding clients from interest to achievement, one step at a time.
For the best client experience, Nathaniel keeps it relevant: “The best way is to learn about the clients and make sure that everything that I discuss and mention is relevant to their pains and goals,” he says. No one-size-fits-all approach here, just custom-fit solutions. His daily routine backs that up: “A typical day would consist of me managing communications and following up with potential clients. I will run demos of our products to prospective clients, and provide quotes and invoices depending on what stage they are at during their journey.”
What drew Nathaniel to SBT? “What drew me the most to SBT was the products, which offer high-quality, practical training for students at all stages of their careers,” he shares. He saw the fit and jumped in. What’s the highlight? “My team. We have great chemistry, and everyone is willing to help each other succeed and the positive energy spills into our conversations with clients,” he says. That team buzz keeps him going.
When he’s off the clock, Nathaniel stays active: “I enjoy going to the gym, watching sports, going to comedy shows and concerts. I also enjoy travelling.” From workouts to wanderlust, he’s got a packed line-up.
Two Specialists, One Team Goal
Jake and Nathaniel hail from varied paths, Jake with a sales history from DIY to butchery, Nathaniel with stints in banking and events. Jake’s background? “I’ve worked in sales in several different industries, from DIY and flooring, to working as a butcher in my early years selling to the general public!” Nathaniel’s journey? “I’ve worked in sales for banking, cybersecurity and events.” Together, they bring a rich mix to SBT’s sales team.
Their ambitions show their drive. Jake’s goals are heartfelt: “For SBT, it's to continue to progress our training offerings and add value to each student. I want to leave a positive impression on everyone I meet. Not only as a professional, but most importantly as a person.” Nathaniel aims high too: “The goal is to contribute towards SBT's growth. As for my career, I would love to build a reputation, inside and outside of the company as a respected professional.” Both are in it to make a mark.
